13:30–15:30 Working with the voices in your head: the imposter, perfectionist, procrastinator.

Workshop organized by prof. Geraldine Fitzpatrick, TU Wien.

We all have those self-sabotaging voices in our heads, our inner critics, that tell us somehow we are not enough, not good enough – the imposter, the perfectionist, the procrastinator and more. This can be particularly so as a PhD student, learning how to do research/be a researcher, and when it seems like everyone else knows what they are doing and you don’t. This isn’t helped by experiences of high rejection rates and competitive academic cultures. However, we can also find ways to understand and befriend these voices and to make them work for us. Even further, we can cultivate other voices in our head that support and encourage our learning journeys and allow us to be human. In this interactive workshop, we’ll start to explore these voices as well as practical evidence-based strategies for how to manage them. Participants will gain increased self-awareness and a toolkit of practical strategies.

If you would like to participate, please register on the EUSSET Hub.
